Cancellations

We request 24 hours notice of a cancellation so we can fill your appointment with another client. We also provide automated text reminders of appointments. If we don’t get 24 hours notice, you will be charged for your session.

Health Insurance

We do not accept insurance at our practice, and payment is due at the time of service. If you wish to use your insurance, we can provide receipts and insurance claims for you to be reimbursed. Please check your out-of-network benefits.

Why not use my insurance to invest in my therapy?

Few clients realize the consequences of using insurance to pay for their therapy, and investing in yourself independently comes with important benefits:

  • Diagnoses don’t go on your medical record. With insurance, a diagnosis is required to be recorded on your medical record, concerning clients who have sensitive jobs, are applying for life insurance, or must seek other medical treatment.
  • Session details and notes stay confidential. Insurance companies have the right to know the details of your therapy, including notes. To maintain your privacy, you must invest in therapy yourself.
  • You completely control your treatment. Your coverage determines the sessions, length, and methods of your therapy in addition to who you can see. As a self-payer, you determine treatment and are in a better position to get better.

Good Faith Estimate

Under the Federal No Surprises Act (H.R. 133 – effective January 1, 2022), you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate,” which explains how much your medical care will cost. Under this law, health care providers are required to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

*Please note that this Good Faith Estimate is only to offer transparency about your therapy costs. It does not commit you to seeing your therapist for a certain number of sessions or for a certain duration of time. How frequently you meet with your therapist, and how long you come to therapy is solely your decision.

Things you should know:

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
  • You are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You could be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • It is your responsibility to save a copy or take a picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call the Colorado Division of Insurance at 303-894-7490 or 1-800-930-3745.
